An animated television series based on the life's work of comic strip artist Jim Davis. It was a very long running Saturday morning cartoon, second to The Smurfs. Garfield & Friends contains Garfield, as well as a bonus adaptation of U.S. Acres, which is another newspaper comic about Jon Arbuckle's family farm that was published for a few years. Garfield also had several television specials made, and produced by the same crew that did Charlie Brown & Snoopy. Garfield & Friends also adapted the non-arc strips into animation, now known as "Quickies". No other Saturday Morning Cartoon has been as successful since then, because in 1993 inflation negatively impacted them. The production staff openly protested against the budget cuts by adding a very bossy U.S. Acres character named Aloysius whose purpose is to get in everybody's way. One of Garfield's theme songs promises plenty of parties and propelling pie projectiles.
